Founded in 1982, Winthrop specializes in leasing computer systems and other high-tech equipment from a variety of OEM manufacturers to Fortune 500 and mid-cap companies. In 1992, Winthrop went public. The company amassed 19 consecutive quarters of growth and in 1997, was acquired by Twin Cities Federal Bank (TCF). Winthrop has remained an autonomous subsidiary since then.

Our relationship
Eaton & Associates has work with Winthrop since 1992 providing corporate identity and branding, as well as on-going communications design. We have grown with Winthrop creating materials that reflect the organization, their products, services, and strengths.

The communication objective
Financial Services and customer commitment--Winthrop takes pride in responding to the changing needs of their customers by expanding the diversity of the equipment they lease and the products they provide. With that in mind, we developed their corporate brochure to highlight not only the diversity of businesses they work with, but also the flexibility of their various leasing structures.

This brochure is in its third generation. Using the same format and layout style, only a few customer stories and testimonials (text and photographs) change with each generation maintaining continuity while achieving contents that are fresh and lively.

The brochure continues to be a valuable marketing tool for Winthrop's sales force. It incorporates succinct text and rich colors. It highlights customer testimonials with vivid photography of both the customer and the products they sell.

The brochure theme says it all. "Commitment to Customers".

The design process
Working closely with Winthrop, our process involved identifying potential clients to be featured in the brochure. A Winthrop sales representative made the initial introduction to each client. The writer and designer then created a story and the accompanying graphics featuring 21 customer testimonials. Project management included identifying photographers and coordinating client, availability and location for each shot. Toronto based photographer Greg Edwards created the testimonial portraits and Dale Dehmer created the supporting client product photos in his Minneapolis studio. Susannah Baudhuin at Eaton & Associates created the cover photo collage.

Eaton & Associates responsibilities--included design concept development and layout, project management, photo editing and selection, page layout detailing, production typesetting and proofreading, electronic file formatting and supervision of printing with the ultimate responsibility for bringing the project in on budget.
