This Country Is Sacred To My People, American Indian Laws and Treaties 1820-1890 is the companion catalog to the exhibit of the same name, held in April of 2003 at the University of Minnesota Law Library, in the Arthur C. Pulling Rare Books Research Center.

We have been privileged to work with the U of M Law Library Rare Books Collection on a number of banners, announcements, special invitations, and the most comprehensive project to date -- an exhibition catalog.

The Arthur C. Pulling Rare Books Research Center houses an extensive collection of original legislative documents dating from a critical time in American history, and particularly concerns the Native American tribes in Minnesota. Highlights of the collection include the original treaty by President Lincoln, 1864, between the United States and the Chippewa Indians of Minnesota, an early copy of the Cherokee Nation's own Constitution and Laws, 1839, and rare early books in the Cherokee and Choctaw languages.

The Rare Books Collection is supported by a dedicated group of private patrons, and the Law Library wished to celebrate their support, and commemorate this special exhibition, on a conservative budget. The book consists of exibition listings, notes, and short essays, and includes photographs of some of the most interesting pieces. The book is 32pp, printed in 2 colors, with french-fold paper covers, and finished with exposed-stitch binding.
