An extension of our ongoing work with the University of Minnesota College of Natural Resources, the Minnesota: A History of the Land web site launched its first phase in October, 2004.

With a premier scheduled for Winter 2004, the producers were anxious to get a web site promotion in place before events and advertising began. As with most non-profit projects, resources are limited and every piece must have great impact and be multi-purposed. The group expressed several immediate needs for a web site, as well as long-term needs that seemed daunting. Immediate needs included overview descriptions for each episode, information about the development of the production, and credits to their generous sponsors and contributors, and most of all, a way to generate excitement for the series premier. Long-term, the group plans to include educational curricula, interactive features, video streaming, and more.

We suggested developing the web site in phases, with the first phase fulfilling only the immediate needs -- and site development from start to finish was just 5 weeks. The stunning photography of Richard Hamilton Smith sets the stage for an epic story, and the site is built to be easily expanded in the following months.
