As founder and principal of Eaton & Associates, Tim brings his expertise to every project, acting as advisor and consultant to the E&A team and the client from the first meeting to the final product. His thirty-five plus years of design experience include senior design positions with Cowles Communications, Debrey Industrial Design, and Ellerbe Architects. He was a partner in the design firm of Ariss & Eaton and in 1981 founded E&A. Tim believes that design plays a critical role in the business community as well as the civic sphere. This philosophy has fueled his active participation in the Minneapolis and regional design communities since he first earned his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. He is a current member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts of Minnesota (AIGA), where he served as a board member for 10+ years and spearheaded the organization’s Environmental Responsibility Initiative. He is also a member of The American Center for Design and an advisory board member at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He served for eleven years as a visiting lecturer of design at UW Stout. Most recently, Tim merged his professional passion with his personal passion by launching Canoeing.com—The Ultimate Guide to Canoeing Online.

Tim’s work has been published in American Institute of Graphics Arts, American Center for Design and Graphis Poster books as well as in Communication Arts, Graphics USA, Graphis, HOW, Industrial Design, Photo Design, Photo District News and Print magazines. His work has received awards from The American Institute of Graphic Arts, The American Center for Design, The International Association of Business Communicators, Minneapolis Art Directors Club, Minnesota Graphic Design Association, Package Design Council of America, Society for Technical Communication, Society of Typographic Arts, Typographers International, Graphis and AIGA/Minnesota.



As creative director, Kari leads the E&A team to develop original and efficient communication solutions for all every client. She joined the E&A team nearly ten years ago as a web site and Internet expert; she has since developed design and communications tools in nearly every medium for a wide range of clients and projects. She is experienced and proficient in brand strategy and corporate identity, annual reports and collateral materials, as well as interactive technology, usability, and web site development. A true jack-of-all-trades, she believes the best way to serve clients and the community is with effective and efficient design solutions. Her work emphasizes clarity and simplicity without sacrificing sophistication. Kari holds a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and is a member of AIGA and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.



Alissa joined the Eaton & Associates team in 2008, writing and managing content for web sites and printed publications. An experienced account manager and writer, she specializes in distilling the big picture into clear, easy-to-understand messages and copy. She writes web content and product copy, edits and produces newsletters and other printed publications and researches and writes original articles for client publications and blogs. She holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and is currently earning an MFA in Professional Writing through Western Connecticut State University.



Sandy is more than the E&A business manager She’s the friendly face that greets our clients and knows everyone by name. She has been keeping E&A on track since the 1980s. While the creative team designs communication solutions, she keeps the “behind the scenes” aspects of every project—E&A company updates, invoicing, and each and every detail—under control.



Freelance writer and news blogger Charlie Mahler is a writing consultant on many E&A projects. His experience includes managing and writing blogs for Canoeing.com, Down the Backstretch and the Quetico Superior Foundation (QSF). He is also a regular contributor to Wilderness News, the printed publication of QSF.


Jason brings 20+ years of developing software and more than a decade of web site design to the E&A team. His early work at eWorks helped lay the groundwork for producing database driven web sites at a time when most commercial sites were static. Jason currently works for PR Newswire, where he heads the company’s Research and Development group, researching leading edge technologies.


Marty is a commercial and fine art photographer with 25 years of experience creating images for advertising agencies, annual reports, and the beauty and wellness industry. He produces in-studio, fashion, and action photography as well as short films. See more of his work at www.martinberglin.com
